{ what my vacations look like }
Posted on February 19, 2012
What my vacations usually look like for at least half of every day – hanging in the hotel room, my sleeping and/or nursing Eliza Junebug in my arms and my Mac – we’ve been like this for a couple hours now.
Although sometimes I wish we had a full day to enjoy out (Miss Adeline and her daddy are now in the hotel stairwell playing spies, LOL) – I will miss these precious days when they have passed. She’s so stinkin’ snuggly!! ?
I do shut the computer *much* of the time so I can just stare at her, breathe in her sweet baby scent and soak in this precious, fleeting babyness. Addie spent every nap in my arms nursing and sleeping … and Eliza is the same way. She’s never fallen asleep without nursing and being in my arms. And I LOVE it! However, as much as I adore our snuggle time, I wouldn’t recommend working like this for proper ergonomics – ouch.
You can have your fancy dinners out, your walking by the river and watching plays (our intended plans for this particular weekend in the city) … I’ll take snuggling with Eliza any day!!

Well, that looks like a wonderful vacation to me!
Perfection… you are making my baby yearnings sneak up on me. lol. However we are now past that wonderful chapter… with four littles of our own I still miss those days (come pop on over to my blog to see my monkeys and your awesome actions in action). Enjoy every moment of your sweet girls.
My little girl is the same – but I just let her nurse and drift to sleep in the baby carrier, and that way we can be out and about and snuggly at the same time.
We LOVE that carrier!
Such precious times Annie! Cherished for sure!
We usually use the carrier too, but I forgot to bring my slings and Mei Tais with me … plus, if she’s too distracted by her surroundings it gets a bit difficult to put her to sleep while walking around.
Yesterday she didn’t want to miss a thing as her big sis was riding our horse by herself for the first time outside (with no lead line), so she nursed in the carrier while we watched and I even snapped photos with my free hand. LOL!
I just found your blog and have been blog-stalking you for the past 40 min! Your pictures are amazing, your outlook on life is happy and positive. Your a breath of fresh air. I wish I could survive on 20 min of sleep and still be half as beautiful as you! Your blog is amazing, as well as all your fun FB things!
Multi tasking mama!!
I just love the photos of you nursing Eliza June. They bring back such wonderful memories of when I was a young mother and all the quiet times I spent nursing my three children. I loved every moment of it and I think it is one of the most wonderful gifts we can give our children. My daughter is a mother now herself. Every time I watch her nurse my beautiful baby granddaughter, I’m filled with pride beyond words. Shame on anyone who thinks this is something perverse!!!
so thrilled to read about a mom with a baby that spent every nap in her arms. and that nursed to sleep every night. our girl did as well – until she gave up her nap at 2 and spontaneously stopped nursing at 32 months old! – but i was often told by others all the ways that I was doing something “wrong” by “letting” her do this (as well as co-sleeping and letting her wean when ready). but, like you, i enjoyed every minute of it – well…maybe not those every two hour wake ups until 2 years old! – and think those moments had so much to do with the deep bond we share (and her strong bond to my hubs as well). your post takes me back to those sweet and limb tingling times and makes me eager to start working on our second baby…thank you for sharing! xoxo
