{ a first for sandy toes }
Posted on June 21, 2011
We decided on Father’s Day to take a little spur of the moment trip to the beach. It’s a sad thing that we live only an hour away from a gorgeous coast, have beautiful places to stay whenever we wish (thanks to Scott’s parents!) and yet Eliza has never seen the waves or felt the sand between her toes. So, off we went … only we take FOREVER to get ready for vacations, and doing it with no planning ahead of time is even worse – we are like a circus trying to get organized and out the door.
We finally got my mom and her dogs installed at our place as house sitters and out the door we went … arriving here at midnight. LOL! And because taking the girls somewhere new is like giving a junkie their drug of choice, once we arrived they were like wild animals running around screaming and giggling. This was made worse by the allure of empty space … we had to move the sofa in front of the stairs to keep baby away and it seems that giving kids a big empty room to run in is irresistible to them … heck, even I was a little giddy and did my own happy dance around the room with them.
Yesterday was Eliza’s first time on the beach and while she was a bit wary of the whole experience at first, by the time we left she was practically rolling in the sand (and, yes, tasting it). I couldn’t get enough of those cute toes covered in sand, and had to snap some shots before I got down and dirty with the girls (Addie was knee deep in a hole she dug most of the time). We have a really FUN beach shoot planned this week … even Addie has been helping make things for it (love it when picture time is really PLAY time – even my husband is excited about this one, ha!). Right now the little miss is nursing and sleeping in my arms, all tuckered out. There will be a lot more beach shots to come for those who don’t get bored of them.

Notice the remnants of her sandy snack …

She resorted to crawling again when she decided this walking in sand stuff was too precarious …

The girls … and Eliza eating something else that isn’t food again.

What on earth is all over my hands?!

Both girls had this very serious game face when exploring some new kind of play as babies … and aren’t those squishalicious little legs just too cute?!

And, I couldn’t get enough of her feet!

And afterwards they are too tired, so mama carries them both …

Okay … I will stop with the photo overload! We still have the rest of the week to enjoy, so I’m sure there will be more to share! Ha!
